Kyoko Yoshida (1969-)
was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan. She moved to Kyoto in 1989. She studied in Oriental History first and then American Literature. After her MA in American Literature from the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies at Kyoto University, she went to Milwaukee, WI. In five years in Milwaukee, she finished her Ph.D. in Creative Writing at the Department of English, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was a co-editor in chief of the literary journal The Cream City Review. Her dissertation is a collection of stories titled Kyoto Panorama Project (2001).
She presently teaches at the Faculty of Letters at Keio University. Her projects include writing fiction in English, translating Japanese contemporary poetry (gendai-shi) and contemporary drama into English, research on contemporary fiction in English, organizing poetry readings, and teaching English to humanities students.
She is presently based in Yokohama and Suita, Osaka.
