Andrea Green is a playwright, composer, lyricist, musical director, professional jazz pianist/vocalist, and music therapist nationally known for her musicals for children and family audiences.  Andrea received a Proclamation from the City of Philadelphia for her musicals which are vehicles to foster empathy, understanding, acceptance and unity between young people. Her musicals convey tolerance-teaching messages that have engaged and transformed the lives of thousands of young people. Ms. Green is the composer and co-writer of Homeroom The Musical (for teens) with Selma Tolins-Kaufman. Homeroom was first produced at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia and has been performed in theaters and schools across the country including: Breckesville Theatre, Ohio, Orchard Valley Middle School, Sewell, N.J., Playhouse on Park, Hartford, CT; Encore Players, Concord, MA; Sewickley Academy, Pittsburgh, PA; UU Children’s Theater, Des Moines, IA; Sagemont School of the Arts, Weston, Fla.; Hamden Middle School, Hamden, Conn. and scores more. Homeroom was featured in Disneyworld at the National Theater Festival in 2012. Ms. Green's musical, On the Other Side of the Fence, has been popular with younger performers in theaters and schools across the country, including Theatre with a Twist in Acton MA., The Wolf Performing Arts Center, PA; Yankton Children’s Theater, SD; and DLO Musical Theatre Co., Danville, IL. This musical is the subject of the one hour documentary by the same name, produced by Henry Nevison and MIND T.V. of Philadelphia, featuring Ms. Green’s work as a music therapist and composer, using her musical as a vehicle to teach tolerance and acceptance. The documentary received the 2015  gold medal from the NY International Film Festival in the social issues category and also received a special award from The United Nations. The Return of Halley's Comet , received it's international premiere in Talinn, Estonia April 2014 and is part of a new documentary in development about the global impact of Andrea's musical.  Ms. Green has a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master’s in Creative Arts in Therapy. She is a member of ASCAP, The Dramatist’s Guilld, AATE, The Children’s Music Network, and The International Association of Theater for Children and Young People.
