Jane Shepard

Jane Shepard's works have been produced in New York, around the U.S. and in five nations. During 25 years in New York City she recieved numerous productions and worked in association with some of the city's most revered companies, among them Circle Rep, The Public, New York Stage & Film, and Ensemble Studio Theater. She is the recipient of many writing awards, including a Jane Chambers Award, The Berrilla Kerr Playwrighting Award, and a Sloan Foundation Fellowship to write and appear in her one-woman show on learning disabilities, The Idiot's Guide to the Brain. Also a filmwriter, Ms. Shepard penned the screenplay for Freak City, produced as a Showtime Original Movie, her script was subsequently nominated for a Writer's Guild Award. Shepard is also the writer/director/producer of several award-winning short films. Three collections of her work appear in print: two anthologies of her plays, published by Samuel French, and one of her cartoons.
