Judy Klass

Judy Klass has seen over twenty of of her one-act plays produced since the 1990s, all over the country. Her full-length plays Transatlantic and Damage Control have been produced in multiple productions in New York City.  Her unproduced full-length play Stop Me If You've Heard This One won the Dorothy Silver Award in 2006. Cell (published by Samuel French) was produced in a mystery festival in Kentucky and in 2009 was one of three plays nation-wide nominated for an Edgar. In 2012 Ms. Kalss's unproduced full-length play After Tartuffe, a futuristic, dystopian reimagining of Moliere's classic, was one of six finalists for the Christopher Brian Wolk Award for Excellence in Playwriting. Ms. Klass co-wrote the Showtime cable film In the Time of Butterflies, based on the novel by Julia Alvarez; the film is out on DVD.  Her original screenplay Au Pair Girl has been optioned many times; she has turned it into a Young Adult novel, published by Itoh Press. Long ago, she wrote a best-selling original-series Star Trek novel. Ms. Klass lives in Nashville, Tennessee, writes songs, and teaches at Vanderbilt University and Nossi College of Art.
