Greg Evans

Greg Evans is the creator of the nationally syndicated comic strip, Luann, which appears in over 400 newspapers in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Evans was captivated by cartooning at an early age. Raised in Burbank, California, home of Disney Studios, Mr. Evans rode his bike to the studio gate to hang around, hoping to be the first 8 year old hired by Walt. In 1971 Mr. Evans graduated from Cal State Northridge, got a teaching credential and taught high school art for four years. He married, moved to Australia for two years, returned to Colorado and worked as a graphic artist at a TV station. But the cartooning bug was still alive and he began seriously working on ideas for comic strips. After half a dozen failed attempts, Mr. Evans found inspiration in his preteen daughter, and in March, 1985 Luann was born. In 2004 Mr. Evans was chosen “Cartoonist Of The Year” by the National Cartoonists Society. Today he lives and works at his home in San Marcos, California with his wife Betty. Of Luann Greg says, "I’ve always felt that the teen years are a very amusing time - except when you’re in them. My goal in Luannis to touch hearts as well as funny bones, to enlighten as well as entertain." His adaptation of his comic for the stage, Luann - Scenes in a Teen's Life, is published by Samuel French.
