Susan Turlish

Susan Turlish wrote "Lafferty's Wake" for the Society Hill Playhouse, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1997. The show became an immediate hit with Philadelphia audiences and played in the Society Hill Playhouse Cabaret Theater for five seasons. "Lafferty's Wake" was published by Samuel French in 2000 and has since received productions throughout the United States and Canada. Indeed, the Society Hill Playhouse reprised the show in 2015. Ms. Turlish was associated with the Society Hill Playhouse for over thirty years and helped to initiate many projects at the theater, most notably: the Philadelphia Youth Theater. For this program, which worked in cooperation with the School District of Philadelphia, she wrote original works specifically for young performers including "Robin Good Hood", "Petey and The Wolf" and "A Safe Place". Her latest work is a comedy with music featuring Peggy Guggenheim, Samuel Beckett and Max Ernst entitled "Surrealists Play." Ms. Turlish now lives in Western New York with her husband, Dennis Gildea.
