Jason Loewith produced and co-wrote the world premiere of Adding Machine: A Musical at Next Theatre Company, where he served as Artistic Director from 2002-2008. The show ran six months Off-Broadway, winning Lucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best New Musical of the Season, as well as four OBIE Awards for direction, design, and performance; and is published by Samuel French. At Next, Mr. Loewith oversaw more than 20 productions, including five plays in world premieres or workshops, including his own adaptation of Karel Capek’s War With the Newts. His programming garnered two After Dark Awards for Outstanding Season (03-04 and 05-06), and plays that he either directed or produced obtained multiple Jeff, After Dark, and Black Theatre Alliance Awards and received critical acclaim from major Chicago press. Mr. Loewith is currently the Executive Director of National New Play Network, and has directed new plays at the Alliance Theatre (Atlanta), CENTERSTAGE (Baltimore), Studio Theatre (Washington), Goodman (Chicago), and many others. Prior to his leadership roles in Chicago, Mr. Loewith served five years as General Manager (and occasional dramaturg) of Classic Stage Company, Off-Broadway. His next musical, Big Nate, will be produced in Washington, DC at Adventure Theatre in 2013.
