The laughs never stop with this collection of four Holiday themed Melodramas. No holds are barred as television favorites to some traditional Christmas classics get skewered in these light-hearted parodies. Each show has a diverse set of characters designed to put a modern spin on the spirit of the Melodrama. CHEER for the heroic, but frustrated Prairie Magician. BOO the villainous land baron with the hypnotic hairpiece, and OOH-AAH the four young single ladies adjusting to life in Manhattan (Kansas). These interactive Melodramas are simple to produce and appeal to all types of groups. Both cast and audience alike will have an uproariously good time!
The Grouch Who Couldn’t Steal Christmas was first performed at Mosley Street Melodramas in Wichita, Kansas on November 18, 1999 under the direction of Mike Roark.

VILLAIN – Phineas P. Grouch or The Grouch. Typical villain out for revenge, except he has a broken heart.
HERO – Richard Charmsalot. A hero with a lot of love, for himself. He gets his own way by charming people with his voice. Has commitment issues.
HEROINE – Cindy BooHoo. A lovable girl with a heart of gold. She cries at the drop of a hat.
VAMP – Maxine De Maracas. A CHARO-like vamp. (Also needs to play Mitzi Showsem in the first scene.)
MINNIE MAESTRO - The matriarch of the town who lives for the choir. (When she enters have the audience sing – ala “Deck the Halls”-Fala-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.)
NARRATOR – Ethel Ann. A little girl obviously played by a man. It’s as if he lost a bet and had to be the narrator. He really wants to be in the show. He is underdressed as a local celebrity, or a regular celebrity that he can imitate.
