The Fawltys are so pleased with their new chef, Kurt, who was recommended by their friend Andre, they plan to hold Gourmet evenings on Thursdays. Despite a "no riff-raff" note on their newspaper advertising, bookings are received. But Kurt, who has fallen in love with Manuel, becomes drunk when visiting the wine cellar and is unable to cook dinner. Basil races off to Andre's restaurant where a replacement meal has been prepared. Basil's car breaks down whilst ferrying the food and despite his efforts to beat it, with a tree branch, into restarting, the food arrives very late. There are accidents galore involving a duck, and a substitute trifle doesn't go down too well. As found in FAWLTY TOWERS.
