Summary
In show business, it's all about who you know. Or is it? Andy Lipman, a smart, ambitious kid from Long Island dreams of a career on Broadway and hopes that his idol, theater legend Martin Kerner, can give it to him. Will Kerner open Andy's door to success, or will their complicated relationship force him to question a life in the theater?

Secrets of the Trade premiered at the Black Dahlia Theatre in Los Angeles, CA in March 2008 under the direction of Matt Shakman.

ANDREW LIPMAN - A precocious boy from Long Island.  He begins the play at sixteen.
JOANNE LIPMAN - His mother, a high school teacher and former dancer.
PETER LIPMAN - Andy’s father, an architect.
MARTIN KERNER - A famous writer and director for the Broadway stage. A brilliant and charismatic older man.
BRADLEY - Kerner’s personal assistant of many years.
