Father Maurice Britt is the 72 year old pastor of a run-down mid-Manhattan parish. His life as a priest and as a man has long been settled in ritual and routine. When a troublesome youngster claims to have been vouchsafed a vision of the Virgin Mary and when this is accompanied by the appearance of ""tears"" on a rectory picture of Christ, St. Martin's Parish becomes the subject of newspaper headlines and the substance of Broadway gossip columns, complicating Father Britt's life beyond his imagination.
"Minor Miracle' is a loveable thing about a Catholic priest in a small Manhattan parish who is so human that he devotes his leisure to picking the winners at Aqueduct (although he never bets them), and complains to his subordinate that he is bored with t SFI Standard-FL Standard No Maybe No No Minuet, A 15675 Title Short Play Drama During the French Revolution an aristocratic nobleman and his estranged wife are touchingly reunited as they both await the guillotine. This classic verse play establishes proof of the innate nobility of character in certain French aristocrats who show a type of moral courage rare in any era. Though the play calls for considerable talent, it is so well written and conceived that high school students can produce it effectively. Excellent for tournaments. This totally delightful comedy is about what happens at Graceland Elementary School when a new teacher is hired" -- a teacher very different from all the other teachers on the school's faculty. Penny who, shall we say, is "minus some buttons," is a con artist. The victim of an autocratic school environment as a child, Penny appears to have dedicated her life to breathing some fresh air into the schoolroom, much to the consternation of principal Clarence Olander who looks out his office window one morning to see Penny's pupils throwing their desks out the window! Is Penny a complete lunatic or is she the only one at Graceland Elementary School with any sense whatsoever? Audiences of all ages are sure to delight in the frenzied, antic comedy of this gently subversive play.
