Music: The music is stylistically diverse (though two of the songs are awfully similar) and pretty catchy. I am performing this with children and they are truly enjoying the music.
Script: This is a very funny script with funny puns from pop culture of the '80's and '90's, especially by the Mouse King. Again, as I am performing this with children, some of the references went over their heads. One thing I thought was strange was the the Father, Mother, and Clara never return from the ballet. Also, some of the lines are a little lengthy for the main characters.
Materials: The rehearsal CD does not match the words in the vocal score OR the script, which is frustrating (sometimes the words are completely different, sometimes they changed "I've" to "we've", sometimes entire paragraphs are left out). Also, the rehearsal CD is sung mainly by a man, even though the Nutcracker is supposed to be a woman. The suggestions for costumes was helpful.
