SPAIN- (2M, 3F)
Barbara, recently deserted by her husband of five years, discovers a Conquistador in her living room. Though she has had vivid fantasies about Spain, the Conquistador and his cruel and bloodthirsty approach to life were never part of them...until now. Through him and a maze of real and imaginary characters--including her best friend Diversion, a Mayan Ancient, and a very familiar guitar player--Barbara sorts through the leftovers and finds her Duende.

Before she died, James’ and Louise’s eccentric artist mother told them they were Picasso’s illegitimate twins. James now runs from his sadistic sculptress girlfriend and Louise follows him to their mother’s cabin in the woods, where the ghosts of their very different pasts haunt them in the form of memories of love gone wrong, parenting gone crazy, and in the flesh of Mommy’s former student—who is convinced he is the reincarnation of Picasso himself. Like Picasso moved from his Blue Period to his rosy painting of the Family of Saltimbanques to his legendary Cubist self-creation, these survivors reinvent themselves using the materials of experience and the force of imagination.

 GREEN MAN - (2M, 2F)
Painter Abigail’s model is a naked man painted green, and her architect husband Ronald’s new intern bears a striking resemblance, though he’s clothed. Their new acquaintance, Genice, is a stone sculptor of gargoyles whose musician fiancé appears in the same hue. Who the Green Man is to each of them is a mystery only they can help each other unravel. A play about love, loss and other things made of stone. Featuring two original songs by the author, sung by the Green Man.

"Knable has landed somewhere on the map close to Christopher Durang & John Patrick Shanley." - NY Theatre Wire.com

"Knable is an imaginative dramatist with a supple talent for the bizarre
. His text is a maze, or perhaps a mirrored hall in an amusement park, where nothing is what it appears to be … outrageously funny.” —Robert L Daniels, Variety

“You will feel warmed by the demented cheer of this story of a wife whose strange and entrancing dream helps her cope after her husband leaves … SPAIN bears great similarities to Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz in its rendering of a bizarre dreamscape where truth lies hidden in the madness … At its cockamamie heart, the play is a sweet story about an angry, cast-adrift woman who finds in dreams strength and resources she didn’t know she had … If you are looking for a bit of warm-weather diversion, SPAIN is the place to be.” —Jayne M. Blanchard, The Washington Times
