Traven and Other Plays

Overview

This five play collection includes Traven, a longer two person one act in which a girl finds herself lost in the Mexican jungle on a search for the mysterious writer B. Traven; Annabel Lee, in which a tormented college professor is forced to endure a very unwelcome late night visit by an enthusiastic and eccentric student obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe; Landru, in which the notorious French serial killer is tracked down by the sister of one of his victims; Glockenspiel, in which the bland characters of a dull German textbook come hilariously alive in the story of Herbert and his lost tennis balls; and A Child's Garden of Flesh-Eating Plants, in which a ten year old girl visits her mother in a mental institution and learns about the relationship between God and the Devil and how it is manifest in a fish hatchery. By turns funny and terrifying, this rich collection explores the stranger reaches of the human psyche in five unusual tales by the author of Jules Verne Eats A Rhinoceros, Punch And Judy, Further Adventures Of Tom and Huck and many other plays.
