In this fractured folk tale based on a story by Isaac Bashevis Singer, Mazel and Shlimazel, the spirits of Good Luck and Bad Luck, make a bet to determine who is the more powerful. The terms: Mazel will take a hapless young man named Tam under her wing for one year, at the end of which Shlimazel will attempt to undo everything she's done in one second. That's the point at which Tam and the princess with whom he's fallen in love have to rely upon their own ingenuity to save the kingdom and keep Tam's neck out of the hangman's noose. Along the way, matters are complicated by a crafty prime minister, a superstitious nurse, and a lion on the loose!

REVIEWS

"LUCK! is a true family event, a great story that will keep first time theatergoers engrossed and experienced theater lovers entertained not only because its book is based on a wonderful Issac Bashevis Singer story but because its glorious story-driven score will have you humming the songs as you leave the theater.  It's perfect for theaters of all sizes and budgets. It can be done in grand style or on a bare stage. You can double the size of the cast or do it with a handful of actors;  however you do it, everyone will have a chance to shine." - Anthony Gruppuso, Producer

Luck! was performed in New York City as a staged reading in The York Theatre Company’s Developmental Reading Series in New York City in July 2009 under the direction of Stephen Nachamie.
