Timothy Michael Larson, a "mellow" Teenager with real enthusiasm for cool living, is sweetly conned by his English teacher to consider portraying the part of St. Joseph in a high school Christmas play. When Timothy says no vehemently and the teacher says, "go sleep on the matter," Timothy reluctantly agrees. On his way home, he meditates on his miseries on a park bench. And here, to help him make the decision, come two super salesmen from out of this world: Petite, the donkey that carried Mary to Bethlehem; and De Vil, the devil himself. The conflict between these, with Timothy in the middle, makes for an exhilarating, touching comedy.
