A truly great piece of writing for an ensemble cast. Beware the language if you have delicate patrons; however Mr. Wasserman does address the issue in his production notes. Don't pass this up.

It's Not the Movie
Don't get me wrong here.  The movie is great.  It dared to be a great story, with incredible acting, not a product of market research, and without a chirpy, perky, Disneyfied ending.  But this play has more grit, more substance, more...possibilities.  Explore the text.  See the possibilities within the supporting characters.  Mac and Nurse Ratched are the leads, but it's not just them; if you do it correctly, this is great ENSEMBLE work.  And above all, tell your McMurphy to be McMurphy, not Jack Nicholson--there's only one Jack-as-Mac and your guy isn't him.

Better script than the movie.
With some hilarious stage directions, too.

Outstanding show with some truly great roles.  Classic of American Theater.
