Overview

The story of Joe Orton, the brilliant homosexual playwright, author of such plays as Entertaining Mr. Sloane, Loot and What The Butler Saw, and his emotionally disturbed lover, Kenneth Halliwell. They room together in a claustrophobic apartment and struggle for success, first as actors then as writers. Halliwell guides his young lover and educates him. Then, to Halliwell's great frustration, his protege outstrips him to become enormously successful. In a fit of jealous rage, while his young lover is asleep, he murders him, then takes his own life.
