SPONSORSHIPS / OUTREACH

Samuel French is proud of its tradition and history of supporting educational and not-for-profit organizations. At any given time, we are involved in a myriad of projects.  Currently, here are some of the exciting groups with whom we’ve had the privilege of partnering:

Learning through an Expanded Arts Program (LeAP)

LeAp is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of public education through a hands-on, arts-based approach to teaching the academic curriculum. For the past four years, Samuel French is excited to have partnered with LeAp on their program introducing NYC public middle and high school students to playwriting, play production and theater appreciation through LeAp Onstage. Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and Thespian Playworks

Thespian Playworks is a writing competition and script-development program for high school students, sponsored by the Educational Theatre Association and run by the staff of Dramatics magazine. Each year, up to four finalists are invited to bring their scripts to the International Thespian Festivalin Lincoln, Nebraska, where they work with a professional director, a dramaturg, and a cast of actors to put the short plays up on their feet before a live audience.  Samuel French is honoured to publish these outstanding plays in a collection.

American Association of Community Theatre (AACT)

Playwright Ken Ludwig will be the guest of honor and deliver the keynote address at the the 2012 AACT Convention in NYC. His plays include Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo, and Leading Ladies. Mr. Ludwig's appearance is sponsored by Samuel French.

In addition, Samuel French will be offering discounts for AACT member theatres on a wide selection of Ken Ludwig plays as part of AACT's Act Locally, AACT Nationally program. For details go to aact.org/ludwig.

National Alliance of Musical Theatre – Festival of New Musicals (NAMT)

In 1989 the Festival of New Musicals was created to provide a forum to celebrate the new musicals that were being produced and presented around the country.  Held in NYC every fall, Samuel French has been proud to be a sponsor as eight new musicals are brought to life in front of an industry-only audience with the hope to gain them greater exposure and a future life.
