It's Christmas eve at the Willow Inn and a storm is raging outside. Hosts Jenny and Tom are entertaining Jenny's grieving father at the bed and breakfast for the first time. Three travelers are forced to take refuge at the inn, including a Mr. Smith. At first, only the handyman recognizes him as the spirit of Christmas.
