Grim Lake  $12.95

Don Nigro

6m, 3f

Simple unit set. In this longer one act, set in east Ohio in 1805 and 1791, George Grim is haunted by fragmented memories of the reputed massacre that took the lives of his parents, grandparents and aunt fourteen years earlier. Nobody in the little settlement of Armitage seems to want to talk about it. Jonas Grey Wolf says something came up out of the lake and took them. Polly Crow says the Devil came and took them, in the guise of an old man with white hair and long arms. Others think it was the Wyandots. As George slowly pieces together the puzzle, we attempt to solve it with him. People are hearing voices, eating dangerous purple berries, and walking on their hands. An eerie and harrowing conundrum about what we can know about the past. Part of Nigro's long Pendragon cycle of plays.
