Drama

Pope John Paul II, translated by Boleslaw Taborski.

Original songs by Paul Cassanova

4 m., 3 f., plus 1 on stage guitarist.

No set.

The most widely produced of the plays by Pope John Paul II, The Jeweler's Shop made its Off Broadway debut in 1994. Ideal for church chancel as well as stage productions, this poetic drama explores the aspects of human existence expressed through love and marriage. Songs by Paul Cassanova of the group Please, which use one acoustic guitar as accompaniment, project a youthful timeliness and hope.

"A marvelous play with a message ... [and] dramatic power that moves the audience to tears." Catholic Advocate.

"The play impacted me personally. It dramatized how we transmit our lives to our children." Catherine Hennessey, Our Lady of Mercy, Queens.

"Moving." Nona Aguilar, St. Vincent de Paul Church.

"A beautiful true to life love story; everyone must see it." Tommi Murray, Mary of Heaven Church, Brooklyn.

"Touches the soul." Agnes Birnbaum, St. Elizabeth Church, New York.

"A romantic play filled with inspiring messages." Feli Reyes, Immaculate Conception Church, New York.

"I was moved by ... the idea of setting the world aside for the deeper meaning of marriage." Ramo De Lilo, St. Angela Merci Church, Bronx.
