Teen Groups

Comedy

Cynthia Mercati

10 m., 13 f.

Int.

This vibrant and candid play about makin' it through high school is a favorite with teen actors across the country. Makin' it is tough: there's peer pressure, the fear of being a geek, a grind or a burnout and the specter of unpopularity. There's also pressure from adults, sometimes well meaning, sometimes narrow minded. These elements of teen life are blended into a quick witted, up front and funny play that takes a realistic look at surviving high school. The characters are recognizable but never "types". Brooke wants to be popular and is willing to pay almost any price while Pat fears that she may be paying too high a price. Karl buries his troubled home life by playing football. Scott wants to be an artist, but his father wants him to go to college and become a businessman. Jen accepts that she's never going to be one of the popular crowd, but it does hurt. "There are kids in this school just like the ones in the play!" Student comment.

FEE: $75 per performance.
