Malcolm Hillgartner is the co-writer and arranger of the musicals Chaps! and Chaps! A Jingle Jangle Christmas, and the co-writer and composer for Dogpark the Musical,They Came From Way Out There, and Holmes and Watson Save The Empire. Under the pen name Jahnna N. Malcolm he and partner Jahnna Beecham have written more than 130 books for young adults and children including The Jewel Kingdom, Bad News Balletand Love Letters. They adapted and Jahnna directed the film of their book, The Ruby Princess Runs Away, which was reviewed by Timemagazine and won Best Picture at the 2001 Burbank Int’l Children’s Film Festival. Their parenting columns for Sesame Street Parents magazine were compiled into a book titled I’m Counting to 10, and was a Parents Choice Award winner in 2002. They’ve also written PC games for Trilobyte/Virgin Games, and Parents Choice and Teachers Choice Award-winning learning programs for Hooked on Phonics. A longtime member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA, Malcolm has acted in regional theatres across the US and Europe, and is an Earphonesand Audieaward-winning narrator of over 100 audiobooks.
