Monte Montgomery, the son of a dancer and a scientist, has worked as a waiter, truck driver, legal secretary, songwriter, playwright, novelist, public health consultant, jazz pianist, and movie director. With his wife/writing partner, Claire, Monte has written three stage musicals: Flying Colors (published by Samuel French), Partners, the Lawyer Musical (optioned for Broadway by David Geffen), and The Prez (national finalist for the Richard Rodgers Production Award and Harold Prince Musical Theatre Program). Children's books include Hubert Invents the Wheel (Texas Bluebonnet Masterlist, 2007/8) and Kid Confidential: An Insider's Guide to Grown-Ups, both published by Walker/Bloomsbury. He also writes and directs short comedy films about public health. (Really!) Monte and Claire live in Los Angeles with two indolent cats.
