Steve Braunstein has received productions of his plays at theatres across the country and around the world. His noir drama The Tangled Skirt (NJ Rep debut) received an Edgar Award Nomination for Best Play from The Mystery Writers of America and has since been produced in England, Ireland, Istanbul and most recently Italy. His play The Soul Of An Intruder was produced twice in New York and optioned for a feature film. Other New York productions of his plays include: Perched on a Gabardine Cloud at Playwrights Horizons, Big Time at the Lamb's Theatre, starring Tony Lo Bianco, Synchrony at The Soho Playhouse, The Incognita at The Gene Frankel Theatre and Shots At Fate at the Judith Anderson Theatre on Theatre Row. Readings & Workshops of Mr. Braunstein's plays have featured Alec Baldwin, Stanley Tucci, Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman, Tovah Feldshuh, Jeff Daniels, Tony Roberts, Elliott Gould and William Hurt. In the movie world, Mr. Braunstein has been a Story Analyst for Universal Pictures and Robert De Niro at Tribeca Productions. He has been awarded a PEN Writers Grant, and two of his plays - The Incognita and Perched On A Gabardine Cloud - have been selected for inclusion in the prestigious Theatre Collection of The Lincoln Center Library.
