Author of The Philadelphia Story, Philip Barry presents the case of Sophie Wing, a brooding, brilliant and tempestuous actress who is planning to marry her acting partner and go on a South American tour. Five years before, her husband, Jim Hapgood, joined up with a Scottish regiment. He has been reported missing, is thought to be dead, and has been legally declared so.
