Summary
A hilarious historical epic of dynastic China, in which Orchid Yehonala wins out over Pervading Fragrance and Welcome Spring to become Chief Consort to Emperor Chien Feng and, after his death, the last Empress, Tsu Hsi. After court intrigues result in the death of her chief eunuch, An Te Hai, Tsu Hsi avenges herself on her son, his mistress, and all rivals for power.
