Based on the irresistible Phaedra-Hippolytus myth the scene is present day New York, and the king is a restaurant owner. The son by his first love has hitchhiked from the West Coast on the death of his mother, to encounter his father's beautiful young wife. What occurs is inevitable, including the deaths of both.
