Anna is translating the work of Ben, an American writer, and their trans-Atlantic telephone conversations have drawn them closer and closer, but Anna is afraid to cross the water. In the next room her daughter calls to her. She is torn between her desire to be with him, her love of her daughter, and her deeper fear that all relationships between men and women are hopelessly corrupted. One of nine short plays tracing the history of a relationship, each of which may be done separately or in combination with any or all of the others.
