Summary
In the year 1805, the French poet Emile Deschamps, then just a boy, was introduced to a gentleman named Monsieur Fortgibu over a plum pudding. The story of this encounter and its curious aftermath has been told and retold in the years since that fateful meeting, notably by Camille Flammarion and Carl Jung, and has become a ubiquitous specimen in the history of synchronicity. Funny and weird, and examination of the roots of coincidence and the eerie sense we can't help having now and then that an apparently meaningless universe is perhaps not quite so meaningless, if we could just figure out what it means. In Barbary Fox & Other Plays.
