On a rainy night Laura, who has just started graduate school, and is hosting a rather wild party, has an unexpected visit from her stepfather, Stephen, whom she hasn't seen in years. He tells her he's concerned about mysterious telephone calls he's been getting from her, including a very disturbing recent one, in which she seems to suggest that there is a sexual relationship between them. He is worried that she is having some sort of breakdown, but she insists that he's the one who's mentally confused. He also believes somebody is following him. Mysterious, erotic, and with an undercurrent of serious danger, this play is meant to be done on its own, or in a trilogy which also includes
Praying Mantis and
Hologram, or as part of a group of six interrelated one acts that also includes
Entanglement, Telepathy and
Uncertainty. Published in Griim Lake & Other Plays.
