Summary
An attempted seduction of Peribanez's bridge, Cacilda, by his feudal overlord, leads to Peribanez's killing him, and in turn ultimately being pardoned by the king for his actions. An example of Lope's "comedias", the thematic significance of the events are characteristically brought out both by the use of allusions and by a highly lyrical network of associated images, contrasted by a very conscious use of irony, typical of this great Spanish master of the Golden Age.
