Summary
In this appealing translation of L'Heureux Strategem love triumphs once again. Dorante has been jilted by the Countess who is now infatuated with the Chevalier. He, in turn, has broken off with the Marquise. Dorante and the Marquise hatch a plan: they spread the rumor that they are betrothed to each other. This provokes the Chevalier, to the consternation of the Countess. At the "wedding" the Countess is so upset that she faints. She revives to learn of the plot and thank her true love Dorante for helping her come to her senses.
