Summary
Jannings and George discuss-invent an evening which has consisted of ordering kidney flambe, and in a roundabout way they get to retelling the legend of a horseman who on a winter day set out to ride to a village on Lake Constance. He reaches the village, but is unaware that he has already crossed the lake, and falls dead when he is told that he has already accomplished what he thought to be impossible - and over but a thin layer of ice did his horse gallop?! Hence, people in danger who are unaware of it until afterward, have taken "a ride across Lake Constance"...one of the leading avant-garde playwrights of today." - Village Voice.
