Details

Summary
Adrienne Kennedy relates her star-studded experience of moving to London and working on The Lennon Play: In His Own Write. Her absolute astonishment at being thrust in among the rich and famous of the theater and film world is really refreshing and charming. This is a great story, told in an interview-style conversation between a mother and son.
History
Mom, How Did You Meet the Beatles? was first presented Off Broadway by artistic director Oskar Eustis at the Public Theater in New York City as the first production in the company's Public Lab series, on Feburary 12, 2008. It was directed by Peter DuBois.
ADRIENNE KENNEDY - Often hesitant, emotional, joyous, and sad. The conversation with her son is the first time she has spoken about her time in London during the 1960s.
ADAM KENNEDY - Throught the play, the Adam character is curious as to events he's heard something about. This is the first time he's heard the story from his mother.

Could be done with a male voiceover.

Media

“Brief, odd, and entrancing...Refreshing...We are eavesdropping as a curious son prods his interesting mother to recollect a colorful — in fact glamorous — chapter in her past.” - The New York Times

REVIEWS

“A nicely paced monologue.” – WhatsOnStage

“Unlike anything I’ve seen before.” – The Portsmouth News

Mom, How Did You Meet The Beatles is like having your best friend round for a chat. A cup of tea was all that was missing.” – The Portsmouth News

“Touches on Adriennes’s common theme of individuality under attack...Alows us effortless access into Adrienne’s memory, which has been painted with a loving faithfulness that makes London into newly explored territory... The writing is impressively detailed and echoes with the same poetry of the prosaic that defines Adrienne’s best works.” - Talkin' Broadway
