Summary
A sensitive portrayal of the apostle Peter's understanding of his betrayal of Jesus. The words are a dramatic poem which is clear, reverent, human, profound, and speakable. There are three speaking roles, one of which is Christ, and the other two may be female, but there is one speaking voice from the choir which should be male. The choral music may seem moderately difficult at first reading, but proves surprisingly singable, and is terrifically effective. As to the style of presentation, there are many possibilities: as a concert piece, as drama, or with interpretive dance. Peter is especially useful for Holy Week or Good Friday presentations and has been performed by many church groups.
