Summary
TOTALLY AWESOME

Ronnie just doesn’t seem to fit in with her friends. Everyone likes her but she feels that because she is a little bigger than they are, that they don’t really accept her. She decides to try out for the school’s volleyball team and her life changes forever. Ronnie quickly becomes the star of her high school volleyball team and for the first time her team is heading to the state championships.

All of her securities come to a head when a group of students start to taunt her about her body. She becomes overwhelmed but at a critical moment she has to find strength through her inner spirit. This musical will resonate with every teenager who is going or has gone through the difficult journey of accepting who they are internally and externally.

This show comes with a teaching guide that will highlight relevant themes from the story and encourage students to closely examine their views on their body image.

The Chicken Soup for the Soul Musical Series was written specifically for teens and as a result there are no adult characters parts. The shows were created to be “casting-flexible” and so any of the parts can be cast multi-racially. In addition, it is our goal to involve as many students in the productions as possible and so you are encouraged to expand the chorus to whatever size works for you.

The story's central character is Ronnie who can be athletic and/or plus-sized. Her close friends Carrie and Martha should be petite.
