Not only did two ninth graders write the book, music and lyrics for this lively musical, they went on to produce and direct it themselves – casting 26 of their friends! This was an unprecedented musical event in their town, and now it is reaching its larger audience.
The Broadway Café is full of terrific songs like “Failure,” “Day Job,” “The Broadway Café” and “Dumped, Ditched.” The score features playful lyrics like “Our nights we're reading Shakespeare, our days we're fixing shakes here.”
