This delightful one-act is the saga of the beguiling and sometimes intelligent Violet Loo, preyed upon by the evil and sniveling Snively Lowdown. Preston Upright (PU to his friends) arrives in time to save sweet Violet Loo, her rapidly aging Auntie Bellum and the family plantation from the wily Snively's wiles. Unfortunately, he does not arrive in time to save poor Uncle Ben who has been mysteriously strangled with his own shawl! This is no great loss, since Uncle Ben has been off his rocker ever since the Yankees won the war! A blast from the past and a surprise ending cap this testament of good and evil.

PRESTON UPRIGHT - manly, handsome and brave. He ain't so bad either.
AUNTIE BELLUM - not overly intelligent woman who has not noticed she has aged. She is easy to flatter and flutters girlishly when complimented.
UNCLE BEN - white haired and so old as to be almost dead. He lives in the glorious days of the South. Deaf when convenient, he hates Yankees.
SNIVELY LOWDOWN - handsome in a snakery, mustached way. Strictly a wet head; he is no gentleman. Whereas some people want some things some times, Snively wants everything, always.
ABBY - well padded family retainer who is outspoken to the point of insult. She is the only one who seems to know what is going on.
AUNT MARTHA - vague, distracted woman who is always on her way somewhere.
LILLYBELLE and LULUBELLE - twins, who may or may not look alike. Their role is to be an irritant in the family's business.
MRS. LOWDOWN and LITTLE GIRL - distraught travelers.
COLONEL - Violet Loo's da-ya-dee, a blast from the past.
