Summary

THREEE is a collection of clever folktales that count to three -- three contests, three copper coins, three fools.

The Lion Who Roared is about a noisy lion whose weary jungle neighbors yearn for a good night's sleep.  Lion is challenged to three contests by the Popalopalus -- a new "animal" that all the jungle animals join together to create.  This Popalopalus proves to be biggest, strongest and, most of all, loudest.  Lion must trade his roar for a whisper.

In A Fair Price three women are being cheated out of three copper coins by greedy merchants who want to charge them for the shade under a cart, for the smell of a honey cake and for hearing the sound of a flute.  The women win the day by putting a different twist on the same trick.  They pay the merchants with the shadow of three copper coins, the smell of three copper coins and the sound of three copper coins rattling.

Banana Sandwich In A Boat is the story of a foolish bridegroom who must find three fools greater than himself before the wedding can take place.  Luckily for him, the world proves to have no shortage of fools.  First there is the man who jumps out of a tree in an attempt to put on his pants.  Then there is the woman who built a house with no windows and must haul in buckets of sunshine.  And finally there is the town where a woman riding a donkey can't fit under a gate and the townspeople argue over whether to cut off the poor donkey's legs or the poor woman's head.  The bridegroom is happily married.
