Summary
In this mysterious and unpredictable play, young scientist Francis Webb is sent to an elderly, asthmatic psychiatrist, Grace Stafford, by his employer for falling behind in his work. Francis has become obsessed with his research on his imaginary planet Alnyron and its three moons. To Dr. Stafford's horror, he arrives at her office with countless boxes overflowing with papers and files documenting everything from strange peoples, to extraterrestrial poetry, to moon colonists. Undaunted, Dr. Stafford does find the roots of his obsession in his unhappy childhood, but in an unlikely way. A commentary on human loneliness and increasing alienation from reality in the modern information and space age.
