Summary
A very dedicated doctor has inherited a clinic from his wife's father. He works round the clock, unstintingly on charity cases, and has just taken on further labor by signing a contract for medical service to a large labor union. His brother-in-law is also a doctor, but a wastrel of.no competence who lives off the income from the clinic and has nothing but criticism for the way it's run. If he had his way, only the wealthy would be able to afford the clinic's services. The doctor has no time for home-life, or for the lovely wife who is left free to roam the world. Two other women figure in his life. One is a siren who has set her cap for him, and the other is a nurse who suffered loss of memory after the doctor performed a fatal operation on a girl of the streets. His disgruntled brother-in-law uses this operation to lodge a charge of malpractice against him, and it is only when another operation can be performed on the nurse that she regains her memory and exonerates the doctor. It seems that it is always the dedicated people who are targets for the unscrupulous. A fine play by an outstanding author.
