Overview

A man and woman meet at a New England inn on Christmas eve in this bittersweet comedy that starred Henry Fonda and Barbara Bel Geddes on Broadway. She is fretting about an unfaithful husband and picking up her son from a nearby school infirmary. His wife is in an asylum, insane since her despair over his affair enabled their little girl to wandered off and drown. This night they need love. In the morning, she flies off to her contrite husband with her boy and he finds his wife in a rare period of lucidity: It is Christmas.
