Overview

Arrabal writes from deep conviction and his experience as a political prisoner in a Spanish jail. A handful of men in a cell reenact their suppressions, their dreams, their desires for love and freedom; all of which climax when the wife of one of them loses her pleas to the justices and he is subjected to an ugly death for acts of social justice committed many years earlier.

And They Put Handcuffs on the Flowers is published in the collection Guernica and Other Plays.
