David Belasco
The Girl of the Golden West is a classic Western: the tale of a girl who is passionately loved by the Sheriff, but can love no one but an outlaw whose life she saves in a card game. This play provided the source material for the classic 1938 Western film of the same title, as well as an opera, La fanciulla del West by Puccini.
