Overview

The miserly town council refuses to pay the piper for having rid the town of rats by his enticing music. So the Piper plays, and leads the children of the town off into the mountains. The mayor's remorse is finally demonstrated by his beneficence to a crippled orphan, and the Piper returns with the children, to the joy of all.
