Overview

Claude Fairchild is an emotionally unstable man. Yet, as principal of Central High, he has run a tight ship. Deeply religious, ultra consecrative and conflicted about his sexuality, he often comes into conflict with more liberal points of view, which has resulted in protests. He has now decreed that any young man sporting long hair, the fad of the day, would be expelled. This includes his son, Ethan, a senior at Central High. Ethan defies the edict. This leads to protests, a riot and finally a tragedy.
