Overview

Mary Casey, a very determined young woman, has appeared in the office of Jacob Armitage, the town lawyer, with what to her is a very serious matter. She has won a pig at the county fair by drawing a face of George Washington, but now her parents have killed the pig and fed it to a piano tuner from Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and she wants to sue them. Jacob is an honest gentleman who tries to gently convince her not to pursue the matter, but Mary won't take no for an answer. She admits that she has no money, but has decided she will pay his fee by allowing him to take her virginity, and Jacob finds, to his extreme discomfort, that he is tempted. This funny and gentle little play is another chapter in the history of the Armitage family of Pendragon County, Ohio, in other plays of which Jacob's grandfather James (in Tales From The Red Rose Inn), his son Matthew (in Tristan and Chronicles) and his grandson Davey (Anima Mundi, French Gold) are featured. Published in Darkpool & Other Plays.
