Overview

In the autumn of 1976, the tattered remains of what was once the McDuffy and Rose theatre company wanders into the ruins of their ancestral mansion, the great strange Pendragon house in east Ohio. Broke, dispirited and sniping at one another, they unexpectedly find an unlikely form of artistic and personal salvation in this lost place. Duncan, Duff and Ally Rose are the actor children of the great John Rose, now missing for some years, and his beloved wife Mary Margaret. Their cousins June and Lorry are the illegitimate offspring of a confused woman born of a brother and sister and a carnival huckster. What they find in this old house is a reconnection to each other, to their past, to Shakespeare's difficult profession, and to their future. This very funny play is part of Nigro's long series of Pendragon County plays, tracing the history of one Ohio family from 18th Century Wales to the Present.
